Diving in Iceland

One of the top sites for diving in the world, the Silfra fissure is the only place that allows a person to dive or snorkel directly in the crack between two continental plates: the North American and Eurasian.

With the crystal clear waters of the Silfra fissure the divers have an underwater visibility of over 100 meters.

The reasons for this astounding water clarity are twofold: the water is cold (2°C – 4°C year round ) and filtered through porous underground lava for 30-100 years until it reaches the north end of Thingvellir lake, seeping out from underground wells.

Silfra has been rated as one of the Top 5 dive site in the world by many renowned international dive magazines. Check out yourself this phenomenon on earth and dive.
