Italian diver does sharks sleep

According to informations of Portal Terra, the Italian diver Cristina Zanato develops a little-known technique for ‘sleeping’ sharks called tonic restraint.

The technique is to rub a hand gently on the small openings around the mouth and nose of the animals, knows as ampullae of Lorenzini. This way the diver induces the animals to a state of paralysis in which they stay up to 15 minutes.

With informations of Mergulho Scuba.
