Chinese submarine set a new depth record, on Sunday (24). For the first time a submarine is over 7.000 meters below sea level, informed the Chinese media.
“Jiaolong“, named after a mythical dragon and the submarine sank the 7.015 meters in the Mariana Trench – the deepest place on earth, with 11.000 meters deep – in the western Pacific, in his fourth attempt since his arrival in the region, June, the agency said the official New China.
“This shows that the performance of the submarine is stable,” said mission commander, Liu Feng, to state television from the support boat submarine. The Jiaolong took three people to the depths.
Experts say China wants to use the submersible for scientific research, such as collecting samples of marine life and the study of geological structures, or even for the future development of mineral resources.
