Politician wants to build the first underwater dive park in North Carolina

Deputy State Archaeologist Billy Ray Morris wants to build the first dive park in North Carolina, United States.

Morris, who has worked on underwater dive parks in both Bermuda and Florida, wants to establish the first dive park in Kure Beach where the Condor, an iron hull that sank on it’s maiden run in 1964.

“By turning Condor into a park such as that, with mooring buoys, setting up dive slates that people can get their hands on, they can look at one of the best preserved Blockade Runners in the world,” said Morris.
